AI developer Ariel Ekgren, previously a driving force behind the development of GPT-SW3 at AI Sweden, is joining RegTech company Hybridity as Chief AI Officer. He is leaving AI Sweden to work full-time at the company, where he has been a co-founder during its early phase and played a decisive role in building the technical platform from the ground up.
Ariel Ekgren is one of few developers in Europe who has led projects to develop LLMs. With a background from startups such as Gavagai and Fishbrain, he combines research-oriented model development with experience in turning advanced AI into products and business-critical systems.
The rapid development of generative AI has also exposed structural challenges. Language models can generate convincing but incorrect answers, known as hallucinations. They lack built-in fact-checking and can change answers between runs without clear explanation.
Generative AI is powerful, but without a harness, a system layer that governs, validates, and orchestrates the model, it is not suitable for enterprise environments. To be used in business-critical systems, you need reproducibility, systematic evaluation, and robust security. That is where the real technical challenges lie, says Ariel Ekgren, Chief AI Officer at Hybridity.
Hybridity develops HY5, a platform that automates operational compliance work and gives organizations a structured and auditable way to manage regulatory requirements. By connecting regulations, internal controls, and evidence in a single system, HY5 ensures that work is carried out faster, more consistently, and at higher quality without increased manual administration.-
Ariel has been central to how we built our technical foundation. His move to a full-time role strengthens our ability to further develop a platform where AI is not only powerful, but also controlled, auditable, and adapted for Europe's most regulated industries, says Magnus Sahlgren, CEO of Hybridity.
With Ariel Ekgren as Chief AI Officer, Hybridity takes the next step in developing control and evaluation layers for generative AI in regulatory environments.
